usenet_reborn 1.0, RRChat and Micron-Navigator
viernes, julio 31, 2026
Hola hackers! Happy Hacking to all the DIY, creators and tinkers out there. Been heads down on the Reticulum/mesh side of things and it's time for an update - one update, two brand new tools.
usenet_reborn hits 1.0.0!
usenet_reborn is OUT at 1.0.0! It now has all the features needed to run as a lite TUI Usenet client. Today I added X-post - forward an article you're reading straight to other newsgroups - which is what it needed to be fully usable for everyday use.

RRChat - IRC-style chat over Reticulum
New tool: RRChat is an RRC (Reticulum Relay Chat) client - an IRC-like chat experience built on top of the Reticulum decentralized mesh network, fully end-to-end encrypted. RRChat connects to an already-running Reticulum-compatible daemon (rnsd, lnsd, or any compliant implementation) and speaks RRC to a hub, giving you IRC-style chat channels over the mesh. If you like #iamb and vim you will be right at home.
Micron-Navigator - a TUI browser for NomadNet
Also new: after some hard work, happy to present Micron-Navigator, a Reticulum/NomadNet nodes terminal TUI browser, fully in Rust, with vim keybindings. It's not feature complete yet so I haven't uploaded it to crates.io, but the source is up and ready to poke at.

Our own RRC (IRC) hub on Reticulum
We now have RRC (IRC) running on Reticulum - a standalone hub server (rrcd) that any RRC-speaking client can connect to, RRChat included, or NomadNet's Channels section. If you want to join us, here's how to configure your client:

All of the above gets announced on the usenet newsgroup hispagatos.comunicados too, in case that's more your speed.
That's it for now. Keep hacking, keep building, keep tinkering!
